After buying 3 sets of chrome exhaust tips for my 99 coupe (early C5's came without exhaust tips), I give up. I bought a set from Mid America 3 years ago and after about a year, the clips that are welded on the back of the tips broke and the tips got loose and started to fall off.
So I bought another set of the same ones ($80 bucks a pop for a set of 4). After about a year, the same thing happened, they broke at the weld and fell off.
So this year I bought a set from Corvette Central with a different type of mounting. After only a few months, the weld broke loose and the tips fell off. So now I run without chrome tips and the rear end looks naked.
Anyone know of a company that makes chrome exhaust tips with a better way of attaching them to the tailpipe tips?
might as well spend a few extra $$ and look for a used Ti exhaust... theyre usually on the parts part on this forum.. youll get a bit of performance and a little more rumble than the pre-01 style exhausts

Please don't throw any more money at that old exhaust system. you've already spent 250 dollars on tips. its time to upgrade. I've had my Corsa Indy pace system for 13 years. it looks as good as the day I bought it. it has a lifetime guarantee. If I was to take it off my car today, I could sell it for 50 to 75 % of my original cost. That's what a quality system does for you. I love the system so I wont be selling it. 'I've heard them all and for me this is the best sounding system for my type of driving. I don't think that anyone sells a life time guaranteed set of tips. Good luck with what ever you do.

i LOVE my Corsa Xtremes... but if OP is suggesting to keep stockish db on the exhaust with better looks and easier in the pockets i suggest the Ti system since they can be had for a reasonable amount... now if OP were considering a complete upgrade then id say rock out with the Corsas!
My situation is slightly different than the OP. I've got 40s Flowmasters on my 98 and I was interested in getting some bigger tips, thus my interest. I've got 3" chrome slanted tips and was wanting some 3-3/4" or 4" slanted tips to replace them. Hope the answer here helps with the OP as well. No intention of hijacking this thread.
OP, Consider posting a "wanted" ad in the parts section for an 01 to 04 original, exhaust system. You should be able to find someone who is upgrading their system and wants to get back some of the cost. They have the chrome tips and should be sold for cheap as the demand for them is low.

I went for the Corsa Tiger Shark Touring and Corsa X-Pipe several years ago and never looked back...

Evil-Twin nailed it - Corsa makes a great catback exhaust - great sound and no drone. If you don't want to pop for the cost of a new system, you can find them used on the forum quite often.
However, if you just want to spend money on tips again, have them welded on instead of just using the clips. I did that with some tips on my '99.
It's the titanium exhaust system that was used on the C5 Z06. Lots of Z owners pull them off and put on something flashier (louder) so the Ti exhausts can be had for 1/3 (or less) of what you would pay for a Corsa/Borla/B&B/etc.
Going rate for a Ti is about $350 - 400. Only difficulty is that you need to find one local as shipping them is expensive since the axle pipes are welded to the mufflers (i.e., don't clamp on like aftermarket systems), so they're about 5 feet long and a couple of feet wide (at the muffler). But they bolt right on and will last forever.
