It's currently 39 degrees and raining. I've never driven my car in this cold of weather, but our situation has changed recently and it's now my DD.
On the straight road there are no problems. Whenever I encounter a incline or decline when pulling into a parking lot, the car creaks loudly, and sounds exactly like layers of ice are cracking.
There's nothing wrong that I can see. However, this car has been one problem after another and I'm just wondering if the sounds I've described are what you guys call the "creaking" you hear in cold weather, or is this some new bizarre problem that will cost me a fortune to fix?
Unfortunately it sounds like you're not going to know for sure until something actually gives. However these are sturdy cars that were tested in weather more sever than what you've experienced. Give it a shot like you'd give any used car and hope for the best.

I'd be willing to bet it's just the sway bar bushings.
When I had stock sway bars I got creaking-worse in bad weather and over speed bumps. Once my new bars were installed, along with new bushings-no creaking.
The body is not really going to "creak."
While I would not do it with my current tires, I have driven in EVERY type of weather you can think of-including snow.
Sounds as though the anti-roll (also referred to as roll or sway or anti-sway) bar end links may be the issue - the original plastic ones can mske some noises. A set of the metal links is inexpensive, easy to put onn and is a great upgrade.
