Default Runing battery maintainer wire help

going to hook up my battery maintainer for my 97, want to attach the connector to the battery and drill a hole in the battery area and thread the wire into the cove area of the front fender(the cove should hide the connector when not in use). not sure where to drill the hole so I don`t hit anything. also since the computer is below the battery I want to stay clear of it. best place?

I just run mine from under the fog lights up to the engine bay. Course it helps that I have a Blackwing (which leaves more room). There is a hole under the front bumper I thread it up thru.

I didn't need to drill any holes, anywhere. I ran the wire from underneath the battery compartment, along the inner passenger fender and down underneath the front bumper valance - through the slight opening between the valance and the frame skid. This is close to where the exterior temperature sensor is located. The wire is completely hidden looks like it's stock.

the wire is only a couple of feet long, and I don`t want to splice it, also is there any problems caused by unhooking the battery cables to install the wire?

There is absolutely no problem if you splice in an extension as long as it's done properly and you use correct gauge wiring. I used proper connectors and shrink wrapped everything.

The only problem you might have is losing radio presets. And if you have the theft lock feature enabled on the radio, you might want to know the four digit code to unlock it.

I have seen several people run the wire all the way to the back of the car and put the connector above the rear license plate.

You don't state which battery tender you have, but with my Deltran Battery Tender, I just bought the extension cord/adapter and plugged it into the power outlet in the center console. Leave the passenger window cracked about 1/2" and you're good to go.

Battery tender sells extensions 12 and 25 foot, I think the 12 ft. was around 10 - 12 dollars, I was looking at them last week. I use the eyelet type connector and connect it to my side post on battery. When I replaced battery last year I bought a sears dual post battery. I didn't like clip type connector.
