HI, I have a 2001 Corvette Z06 and it has no brake lights on the 4 main rear lights, but the center small brake light works, parking lights work, and oddly enough both rear lights light up as they should when the turn signal is turned on, so in other words both turn signals work, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas??? Hazards do not flash the rear lights also.
I think it is fuse# 15 in the passenger footwell for your brake lights. Check it to make sure it is ok. You might try cycling your hazard switch 15-20 times. Sometimes the contacts don't make. I think a hyper flash harness will take care of it if your flasher is bad. If I remember correctly( at my age that is sometimes tough to do) it could be the multi function switch. The experts should step in soon.
If your 3rd brake light works it is NOT your brake petal switch. The 4 brake lights power goes thru the hazard switch (one contact) and the Multifunction switch (2 contacts). If the turn signals work then it should not be an issue with wiring or connectors. With your symptoms it sounds like the Hazard Switch is the root cause. Putting in Hyperflash should fix the hazard flashing issue but not necessarily the brake light issue. Here is the schematic. I will be glad to go thru the design with you one on one if you PM me with your phone number. I have helped fix numerous related issues like yours. Mr. Sam
Hi Sam, Yes i got a hold of this diagram and i was thinking the switches as well since obviously the wiring is ok. What is this Hyper Flash? i tryed looking for it but other things are poping up with the keywords, do you think i shoud give the hyper switch? I plan on checking the brake light switch for power and that the switch is functioning correctly
