Well looks like we are taking the Z to the track for the first time this Saturday (providing its not raining as it has been every day since June 1st :cuss ). Both EB_Z and I have raced our 6 speed and Auto T/As, but im assuming from what I have read here that the Z is a completely different beastie.
Sooooo anyone have any tips, tricks, suggestions for us?
Just did my first track day last Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway. You will absolutely walk away from the track like this... :D . This car is awesome. I do suggest that you watch your temps. Put your coolant temp in the HUD, and your oil temp in the DIC. It was approximately 95 degrees here when we ran and the water never got over 205 and the oil never got over 270. I did have the preverbial High Trans Temp warning towards the end of my 4th session, but I was shifting into 2nd gear a lot to get good runs out of some corners. Once I stopped that, I never got the warning again.
Therefore, I would suggest staying in third or higher as much as possible, with as little shifting as you can get away with.
The brakes held up great. I did have a little fade, and I think I boiled the fluid just a little, but they still got the job done.

Are you taking it to Bithlo? Why don't you take it tonight or Friday? I thought Saturday was bracket racing or something. You would get more runs on Wednesday or Friday. I'm in Orlando, maybe I will go there too. I have never raced nor seen a Z06 run down the quarter mile for that matter.
Go out and enjoy! I'll see you at the track this weekend. There will be a bunch of us out there just having a good time. My son will be making the trip with me and will be running the Vette for the first time as well. Can't wait to see the look on his face when he runs a 12 second quarter! :D
