Help ! I can't get the oem Goodyear tires until April, WTF ! anyway I would like opinions on other tires, please cost not an issue.
C5 and I like the run flat.
Thanks
Looks like I'm going with the Michelin. I was scoping all the contenders and after hours spec checking it's the one. kind of wanted the firestone wide oval Indy 500 just of the cool name but logic took over.
Thanks everyone.

Why would you want the OEM Good years? Lots better in the Run Flat arena than the Goodyear line.
Michelin has an excellent replacement tire, much better ride and lots less noise. Their term for run flat is Zero Pressure or ZP
Check out what's available on Tire Rack. Price range is about $900 to $1375 for the summer only performance tire.
Thanks for the info. I'm just old school and found that sometimes when you change tread patterns it causes the car to pull/stop funny and so on.
Thanks again.
Used GoodYear EMT on my old Vette. New one has all season Michellin run flats (ZP) and there is a world of difference. Rides better, less noise, handles well wet or dry. They are the Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZP's. Highly recommend, especially if cost is not an object ($1042 at Tire Rack) and cheaper than the last set of GoodYear's I bought.

Thanks, I was looking at the firestone wide oval Indy 500, any thoughts on that ?
I know it's not a run flat but Mario thinks they are good.

There are plenty of very good Non-Run Flats out there. One that is very much liked my Forum members is Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110.
Just over $600 for 4 tires from Tire Rack. Great price, quiet tire, good handling, good longevity. Check them out. I know "old school" likes brands from the past but there are lots better than the old name brands. Coming from Old School who has been on medicare for a few years.....
Yeah, know where your at. Just cleared 63 and a bit hard to change.
After reading many threads about tires it appears that most CF members do not buy another set of Goodyear tires when it's time to change their tires.
The most common brands mentioned are Michelin, Continental, Nittos, Toyos, Bridgestones, Hankooks, and Vredestien.
Next spring I will be buying the Vredestein Ultrac Sessenta tires. About $850.
If I were going with runflats, I would definitely choose the Michelins. Just a much better all around tire than any other out there.
My car came with GY . . .the previous owner put Nitto 555's on it that were getting thin when I bought it - -now has Michelin run flats and Billstein shocks - - between the two, rides a little harder than the old shocks and Nitto's . . .but handles waaaaaay better !
I've got the Michelin run flats now and they're ok. I had Kuhmo run flats on it before. After having the Michelins on it for a couple of years, I think I was more impressed by the Kuhmos. Quieter that Michelins. ANYTHING is better than the Goodyears.

Vredesteins are a great choice. I like them better than the Michelins I had before.
Additionally, the search function here never helps me much.
And given that information is always changing as new product arrives, I always check out tire threads, and , over time, get a good overview of the market.
Not everyone uses the site the same way, or needs to be corrected when doing it in a different way that you personally enjoy. Obviously, not everyone shares this outlook.
But if you enjoy the criticism, well that in itself is a way to enjoy the post , I am doing it myself right now, and it is A-Ok with me. In case you were worried about it.
I'm running some Kumho sport and they work well in the dry. Wet, eh.
Vredestiens were my first radial tire. I started driving in the bias ply days. The brand is well respected for good bike tires, where it is very easy to tell the quality of tires.
If they came in stock sizes, They would be my choice. They don't, so I read tire posts when they come along.

Lot's of folks who want to stay with run-flats seem to go with the Michelins.
I have also heard good things about the Bridgestone Potenza RE960 AS Pole Position RFT tires. Reviews are that they handle better than the Michelins, very quiet and don't act like a RFT tire.
I will also be looking for a new set of meats for my C5 when it comes out of hibernation.

One of the main reasons for the run flats, for me at least is, hitting that pot hole 65 mph jarred my teeth and then I thought, wonder if it took out the tire ? nope, but it did tweak the tie rod end. So there ya go.
