Hopefully when you go to court it will be tossed. But if it said headlights were required and you did not have them on, it will really be up to how the judge feels that day.

I spend quite a bit of time on Nevada freeways. Most of the stretches in the open desert are two lanes. It's much easier to see a vehicle coming at you with his lights on than with them off. These signs are only posted on the parts that are two lanes. You'd be surprised what a difference headlights make in the daytime when you have the sun in your eyes and you're thinking about passing the car in front of you. Sometimes you need all the help you can get. Now don't sit to close to the t.v. or you'll go cross-eyed! (My father's favorite saying.)

Default Daytime running lights

Funny (not for you) that this issue came up. A daily column about road work, traffic, and DMV issues in the San Jose Mercury News just covered this matter. It turns out that California DMV says only Headlights count when driving in rain or limited visibility conditions.

He won't win, He said he was in a Headlight zone and only had his DRL's on, DRL's aren't headlights.

Make sure you slow down going through Lucketts.

My C-4 I have the lights on all the time. Same with my Truck but they were automatic. To be honest the DRL I thought was cool and never really checked to see what lights came on. Just at night it looked cool. I know the judge and don't expect him to toss it out or chew the Deputy or anything. Just would like to get clarification as the officer wasn't sure if I had the driving lights on if the would have been ok or not. And I did ask as people drove by "what about them". Dumb as it is I did it. And the ticket is a hand written one and not very readable. When I went to the court they wouldn't take the money because they couldn't read it and had to wait for the deputy to turn his copy in. The highway patrol uses a printer in there car. So they are going to notify me via mail to let me know for sure how much and court date. I will take the $75 and plead for mercy on the points...

Sorry about the points, but really, you have no argument other than a petty ticket...

DRL doesn't spell headlight....

In your defense I would say those signs were put up way before DRL's were even installed on cars, and Daytime Running Lights were sufficient because they are called Daytime Running Lights. Might give it a try. They might lower the penalty to something without points. Good luck.
