Default Valve Springs changed..

Had the springs changed out, they were the yellow ones, were those the bad batch?

Also had a left side axel seal fixed along with all fluids changed, and long tubes with X pipe installed..

You must be a happy guy. Get rid of the old springs and add on some goodies.

The original OEM springs were blue. The problematic factory ones would be the same color. The yellow colored springs were the replacements from the factory and would not be a problem. You p[robably have had them changed at least once in the past.

Factory springs were in a variety of colors. Blue, Yellow, Natural, Natural with orange stripe.

I've broke a yellow intake on an 02 with 48k miles, seen at least seven other LS6's with broken valve springs, all yellow.

With that being said the part number changed in mid-2003, and have seen these replacement springs in blue and yellow.

You will be fine as long as they came from a dealer.

It is an early 03, I kept reading about those springs and it scared the heck out of me, so I changed them out for peace of mind.. Hate to kill a good motor with only 15K.. Man you did not drive it much, I got it with I think 5K.. How's the new one?

Breakfast soon I am ready for a road trip!! Will you be at Sebring? If you make it be sure stop in.. I am not going to make it to the 24 hours, infield is sold out..

Blue greenish color came on 01 Z06, and yellow came on 02+ Z06. Yellow on's were the problem, i never came across blue/green went broke. Good thing you replaced and next mod begins......comp Cam trunion kit for your stock Rocker arms, those needle bearings in them are some times let go, i am glad i did.

Bought mine 2 years ago, 1 owner bone stock with 36k, changed the springs last summer. It had bare steel springs with the orange stripe. Replaced them with the blue LS2 style springs. It was a big relief to me to get the originals out, everything I've seen was that faulty springs were the main reason for LS6 failures.

wrong. the blues are current GM replacements, there are more yellows that break than any other spring out there. Never seen any blues that break.

i have an 8/01 build date 2002 car and it had the natural with orange stripe springs. also had an 01 many years back that had blue springs

the replacements i got from gm back in april of 2013 were also blue

i even tested them on a spring rate meter and they were damn near identical to the natural with orange stripe springs

I'm in the middle of replacing mine right now. They're yellow on my '02 with an April 2002 build date.

None of you mentioned replacing with PAC 1218's…I'm good with those, right?

Yes

I just skipped the whole business, I'm running a cam with Tooley .660 duals

Mine is a late 03 anyway, so I got the 04 fuel system and valve springs but without the Nurburgring-tuned shocks...

Did you buy that car new?

I also have an 08/01 build date 2002 Z06 (bought new), and it has the yellow valve springs. Was GM using 2 or 3 different springs at the same time?

Actually the new replacement LS2 spring can be Yellow or Blue. Don't have time to give part numbers now. The part number changed Mid 2003 and that part number later became the LS2 part number.

NEVER seen yellow.. part # 12499224 all the new LS6/LS2 springs are blue from GM. I'd be very hesitant to replace a yellow with another yellow.. if that were the case I'd go aftermarket for sure.
