Default Autodimming Mirror to "Old School" Mirror Swap?

Hey guys. With certain things, I am kind of a purist. And one of those things is my rear view mirror. I've always hated the Auto dimming feature. Also, without lots of soldering, there is no way to swap the map lights to LEDs so it's killing the feel of my LED interior lights! So my question is, has anyone on here swapped out their auto dimmer for a normal manual rear view mirror? Is the harness the same for both mirrors? Thanks!

IDK but I'll take your mirror if you don't want it.

Haha well that's kind of what I'm getting at. If I could find someone with a a manual mirror, I would definitely be willing to work out some kind of a trade.

If I'm not mistaken, can't you turn off the auto-dimming feature on the rear view mirror?

While your at it, why don't you get rid of the power windows and air conditioning. Then you could really be old school. Oops, forgot about the air bags and ABS/traction control.
What you really need is a 63.

What I need is a manual mirror so I can match my LED lights. There's nothing worse than yellowish bulbs in a sea of white LED's. No need to be a smart ***.

The soldering is not so bad... I Know what you mean about the yellowish light though.
Changing them out to white was a HUGE improvement.

Yep, that looks about right. I've had it apart before, and realized that my interior LED kit (that I ordered on here) wouldn't work with those map lights. I'm not much on soldering. Kind of a rookie at it, honestly.

Reason I'm looking for a new one is because the auto dim on mine doesn't work. You really have to mash the button to make it turn on...and then it will randomly shut off.

Is that a common problem?

I'm right there with you; my auto-dimming does not work either. I've been wanting a regular flip-style mirror since I bought the car. Having window tint installed helped with the glare a lot.

I have the manual flip mirror on my C5 (Not a Z06), and I actually would like to replace mine to an auto dimmer mirror. I've grown use to it since having it on my 98 Navigator. So here's my question, is it a easy swap for me or more involved to get the auto dimmer to work? If I can have it work on mine with little to no modding, I'll gladly trade with you, provided this would work for both of us.

I wouldn't think the connectors would be different between the two mirrors. I'll look into it.
