I know this subject has probably been beaten to death but I can't seem to find a link to something will give me a clear answer to the question.
Question...Is there any decent way to repair the "dog ear" damaged visors on my 99 coupe? Or do I have to spend the big bucks and by new ones?
Thanks for any answers that are provided.
The base upon which these are built is a thin fiberboard-type of material that deteriorates over time to brittle, crumbling mush. Don't know of anything that can be done. I tried disassembling mine, replacing the old base material with new base material, transferred the mirror/light setup, and recovered with simulated leather (vinyl). The first one I did (driver's) came out pretty good. When I did the passenger side, it came out terrible - never could get the mirror hinges back together. I gave up and ordered reproduction visors.
Still didn't care for the cheap synthetic flannel cloth so ordered leather covers from Redline. Nice, but you have to trim out the center for the mirror and you do have to pull the mirror assembly off, which destroys the pegs that hold it together. I ended up figuring out some key spots where I could put small screws through the faceplate (under the flip-up cover) to hold it all together. The leather really does look much better.
K9Leader Red cars are faster. They did a study on it.
