Service EBCM
My cost was ZERO! It took me about 8 hours including the research on this forum and careful/slow disassembly and re-soldering job I personally did. After the soldering was done, cleaning off the silicon sealer from the mating surfaces of the parts took a lot of time. I re-installed the parts without re-sealing with silicon. I cleared the codes and did a test drive to be sure the traction, ABS and Stability controls were all working again. They all work! The test drive was FUN!
I will drive the car for a couple of months (not in the rain) to see if it stays fixed. If it's OK long term, I will seal it later. I worked from the bottom with the car up on my drive-on-hoist! My C5 (which I bought new) will be 13 years old next May and has 94,700 miles on the clock. It's been and still is a great car.
Here's my GREAT BIG THANK YOU to NVUSGT for his great posting of the how-to-do-it info and pictures.
