[Z06] MGW Shifter Installation

First I'd like to commend MGW's website. Their You Tube DIY videos were perfect for this installation.
There were few hidden steps, but we all know that comes with the territory.
I say this again, I'm used to work on my two C4s, and to remove the center consoles in the C5
are just too damn easy.
Remove the center console four 10mm bolts, and three T-15 torx.

Unplug the center console's 12v outlet, traction control, and gas door switch.

Remove the four 10mm bolts, and remove the OEM rubber boot.

Ready to Rock & Roll

Remove the four 10mm bolts from the shifter box, and pull out the shifter.

The gasket was in perfect condition
.
Remove the T-40 screw from the shifter linkage, and the two T-40 bolts from the box.

Install the heat shields.

Follow the instructions from the video, install the lower shifter box, and bolt-on the shifter alignment tool.

Line up the linkage with the tab, and screw this T-40 bolt first.

Follow the other two T-40 bolts, and place the silicone gasket on the shifter box.

Install the MGW shifter with the four Allen bolts provided. Tighten them with the provided T-Handle tool.
Once the top four bolts are tight, secure them by tighten the side four 1/8" Allen bolts with the provided Allen wrench.
WARNING: That little tool likes to jump around, and hide way inside the torque tube.

If you attack this project place a rag in that gap, or have a flexible magnet available.

I say that now, but I tried two different types of magnets, and I almost gave up to leave it in there.

The OEM rubber boot needs to be modified.

Once you get the rubber boot in place, bolt it with the four 10mm nuts.

The OEM, and MGW. I was already liking it. The OEM felt like handling a piece of concertina wire.

Shifter **** #1

Shifter **** #2

I butchered the OEM shift boot, and opted for the rally stripe ****. I think it is a
cooler looking ****. I will return the other one back to MGW.
Here it is, the new MGW shifter, and the new Pioneer.

Merry Christmas
