Default Buying tips for a C5 coupe

I’m looking to move up to a C5 from my 1993. I’m thinking something between 2000 and 2004 coupe. What are the things that are common items needing repaired on a 10 year old car with 60,000 to 80,000 miles? Should I worry about high mileage cars (100,000 +)? Thanks

i would look at a 2001+ as there were some improvements over the early c5's and if you have an EBCM problem, you can get it repaired/replaced.

Garage queens have their charm but the higher mileage ones probably have most of the age and mileage related problems corrected.
Clutch slave cylinders seem to be an age related thing that you could look into if it's sporting the original clutch.

Has been said many times here but worth repeating, get the car inspected
by a good mechanic. This will give you peace of mind.

Default Update: I made the jump to a C5!!!

Just picked up a 2002 convertible. Triple black, 48,000 miles, 6 speed, new Michelins, very clean. Has some front end damage. Headlight assembly will need replaced. I’ll do the work myself. Bought it for $13,100. I figured a car like this without the damage would be priced in the high teens. Love the trunk. Looking foreword to some overnight road trips, something I couldn’t do with my C4.

Congrats! You will love taking the C5 on road trips. Night and day difference taking the 04 to taking the 96 on long trips. Drove one day 16.5 hours straight with only gas, food and pee stops.

that was a good buy for so little damage

that's a bare minimum 16,000-17,000 dollar car

dealers would have that marked at 19.9
