That what I always thought, for hard to get to batteries on motorcycles, and most of them are a PITA to get to.. The plugin stays out where you can get to it..
How do you hook up using the rings? I even unhooked the terminal but the ring would not fit.. Does everyone just use the clamps? thank you Dan
Go to autozone and pick up some new battery terminal bolts. The ones that have a bolt on them for an accessory for which you use the eyelets that were supplied with the tender. then you just stick the harness in the battery compartment and it's there when you need it. I'll snap some pics of my setup when i get home later.

You can split the rings carefully and permanently attach them to the battery posts, then conceal and run the cable in the engine bay, have
the cable protrude near the front air dam with a regular female a/c
connector fastened ( You may have to splice a similar gauge wire to
extend the cable) Attach a male a/c connector to the cable from the Battery Tender and now you can connect the
battery tender any time without opening the hood
