Default New Tires

Hey guys, been awhile since i've been on here. I had to get new rear tires for my 04 Z, and i know everybody knows but i just want to say that i personally think tire options for vettes suck.....at least the 2 that i've dealt with. anyhow i got a pair of Falken FK453's in 295/30/18 and these things look awesome but look horrible on the car i think, now i've got to lower the car to eliminate excessive fender gap, but my real question is, has anyone ever put new/different size tires on they're vette and afterwards have issues with the active traction system? because ever since i got tires now when i accelerate the TCS becomes active and cuts power. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks guys.

The tires need to have about 0.5" to 1.5" taller tires in back. The computer senses the rotation speed and knows it should have this much difference. If you do not have that much stagger the TC and AH will act up because the computer thinks the tires are slipping.

Your setup if you have the stock fronts 265/40/17 and those back 295/30/18 are not a good match. The back tires are shorter than the fronts. The computer will freak. The stock 295/35/18 are taller.

It looks like you have the wrong size rear tires. You can correct it with a shorter front or a taller rear tire to keep the fronts 1" ± 0.5" shorter than the rears.

265/40/17 -- 25.4"
295/35/18 -- 26.1"
295/30/18 -- 25.0"

I too found issues with finding tires for the Z06 wheels (that I haven't bought yet ). Good info about the tire sizes, the tire shop was talking about stretching a 265 on the rear. I said "I have 275's on there now, I'm not about to go 10mm shorter on a 1" wider wheel.

I agree. You should have gone with the 35 series tires on the rear. And yes, for some reason the availability of tires in the stock Z06 sizes is limited.
