Default Winter Location Woes

For the 2nd time this winter, I’ve had to scrape ice off my windshield. What a misery. On the plus side, it should be low to mid 50’s and sunny on the drive home. That’s nice enough for me to have the top down with the heater blasting.

Here’s hoping you have a pleasant, jail-and-hospital free holiday.

I wish I had only had to scrape my windows for the second time. We have gotten 39 inches of snow in Dec. and it was -22 degrees this morning. You know what car I won't be driving any time soon!

Wifey and I are hoping to (when she retires) move to the N. Georgia/SE Tennessee area but we will have to have a garage. The Vette has never known ice and she won't I hope.

No ice scraping for me, at least not on the Vette. It stays in the garage during the winter months unless there happens to be a really nice day and the roads at not covered with salt/cinders.

I grew up and lived in the Cleveland and Columbus areas of Ohio - -the weather was something that was simply tolerated and griped about.

I did a short term assignment here in Arizona one winter and realized that there could be a choice! Neither of our families lived locally- so we didn't have family ties to consider.

When the job opportunity came- we came to Scottsdale to interview and look for a house in February of `91- the return to northeastern Ohio only reinforced our decision to move and although August heat can be tough, lack of bad weather, lots of wonderful older cars and the opportunity for a daily Corvette experience was irresistable.

We're 2 hours away from snow skiing and the change of seasons - - -lovely to visit- rather than tolerate every day- IMO.... Barrett Jackson and all the big shows just a couple of weeks away !

Best wishes for the New Year - - -

I had to turn the heater on full blast to stay warm driving home yesterday. Of course, the top was down and I was on the highway.

It kills me that you hardly ever see convertibles with the tops down. Assuming you don’t have a convertible, if you had one, would you rock it out with the top down if it was above 50 degrees and the road was dry? I always do. It only takes a minute and a half out of your day to put it up and down.

I don't even open my windows unless I'm forced to (i.e. on the track). Too much wind noise - that's why I got the Z06.

Of course I have a Jeep. The Cobra and the Corvette suck during the winter.

I am in that Ohio Cleveland Columbus area.

To be honest While the winters can be difficult some years most are not bad unless you are in the NE corner of the state. I could have sun shine at my house and 12 miles away at work in the snow belt of Lake Erie they could haver 10" of snow.

This year really has been nice as only sued the snow blower once for a very small amount of snow.

I have had the car out for some exercise a couple times when the roads are washed off. Right now there are many holes in the roads looking for expensive wheels to bend.

While I am not a winter person I love the green Spring, Summer and Fall. I get to San Diego often and after a week of brown dirt and traffic I am ready to go home.

My Uncle lived in Cherokee, N.C., for almost 40 years. In that time frame I found so many beautiful places and roads it is almost unbelievable. So much more to this area than the Dragon and Blue Ridge Parkway......

I am in the midst of relocating from Florida back to Michigan, I have to tend to moms affairs up there. I will be bringing the Vette with me, though come winter I will store it, it has never been exposed to snow or ice and it will stay that way. I have a beater with a heater for that nonsense.

Yes, the question comes down to, do you want 5 months of cold weather or 5 months of heat. That is the difference between north and south.

I keep cars in the garage, that way I don't have to scrape.
