I keep looking at the Cold Air Inlet Grills. They are just replacement grills with oval holes for $90.
Any reason I can't cut about 5 holes in ea of my original grills?????? and put the $$$$ to something else.

You can pretty much do what you want depending on the look and finish you want.
The idea is that the holes allow more airflow into the intake. Not sure how true that is based on the C5 being a bottom air feader however I installed the pre-cut hole grills shown in the pictures below when I installed my Callaway Honker CAI. They were given to me by a friend who never installed them before trading into a C6 so I couldn't beat the price.
I'm not sure if they added any type of improved performance, but I think they look pretty cool and since I was installing the new intake, I decided to give them a try.

I installed a Vararam and they're big giant air sucking holes. After a black snake made the passenger side tube his home I bought the bar type grilles. Looks better than the stock foglight openings

No reason why you can't make the holes in the fog light shroud yourself. Just take it easy drilling the holes unless you take the shroud off the car to do the drilling.
