My son and I just finished reworking a 1998 coupe a few weeks ago. Paint & body, leather, rims and exhaust. Turned out great. A week later he hit a some spilled gravel on a damp back road with no shoulder and had a round with a barbed wire fence. I bought a parts car with everything we need to fix it. The drivers door was demolished in the wreck and the key cylinder is nowhere to be found. My parts car is a 99 model that has has both doors with locks and an ignition switch keyed alike. I'm planning on using both doors. My question is can I put these doors on, change the ignition key cylinder to the one I have that matches tha doors and get a key cut with my existing Vats resistence?Seems like it would work. The vats is stored in the BCM right?

Sure just measure the resistance in your original key and purchase a blank with the same and have it cut to the new lock cylinders.
Just remember the console and glove box will be different.

Good point. I hadn't thought about the glove box and console but I have those still in the parts car as well.
