Default Is there a big difference between these 2 cams?

I'm down to between 2 cams.
#1 is 227/234 113lsa 4deg overlap.
#2 is 231/242 112lsa 10deg overlap.

My issue is that I don't want crap drivability/big surging/stinky idle. I can deal with some shaking at idle but not crazy teeth rattle shaking.

Will the #1 cam still make decent power? or is the #2 a better power maker and drivability not THAT much worse from #1 ?

more overlap you have the more gas it will puke out at light throttle but the midrange will hit one hell of a lot harder.

large overlap cams are ideal race cams but i'm not a fan on the street unless it's a DOHC engine with twin lobe cams aka honda vtec, those work simply because you can have a mild primary lobe and a full blown race lobe on the second set

if it's a street car the cam with less overlap will be more tame

it's still on the large side though for a street car, you can pull to 6500 hard with 220-225deg@.50

would also try to avoid lobes with really fast ramp rates. they are hell on guides and springs if you pack the miles on

one thing guys almost always seem to overlook when building cars is traction. if your're doing a motor set the rwhp to the amount of available traction you'll have based on what tires you plan on using

500whp cars are just not fun if you have tires that go up in smoke everytime you get into the throttle

I just picked a 227/234 113lsa grind from Comp Cams that is going in mine. The guys at Horsepower Addicts helped pick it and said it will be a good grind and will make good power, but I won't lose much driveability with it, which is important to me. With headers, no cats, CAI and catback, I'm guessing I'll be 415-425 rwhp after the tune. I won't be picking it up until a week and a half or two from now, so I can't give you solid numbers. But if you are waiting a bit, I'll check back in with numbers and opinions.

They are stage 2&3 BTR cams

227/234 113lsa .614 .576
231/242 112lsa .617 .588

Im leaning towards the stage 2 just going by the cam description Brian has, the car is usually only a weekend car though. Just wondered if anyone had ether of these cams on this forum, if its worth the HP gain to go the stage 3, if its only 10hp then its not worth it. I'll probably give Brian a call before i order just to confirm the base circle and pushrod length and his opinion and these 2 cams

How soon you ordering? Like I said, I'm pretty sure my cam is the exact spec as the BTR 2. In a couple weeks I can let you know what I think of it.

Cool. sounds good man. So you'll have it installed and tuned in 2-3 weeks? Take videos of the idle from inside, outside and driving/pulls if you can!

For sure. I dropped the car off last week, and the parts should be in early this week and they should get started on it right away. I'm kinda hoping they'll have it done by this weekend, but that's not likely at all. If I can't pick it up next weekend, it'll have to be the following most likely. But I'll get videos if I can. They're supposed to put some up of the dyno pulls.

Cam number one would be the biggest I'd run if you want to have a car that is enjoyable to drive.....
