Default Bluetooth on Factory Bose Head Unit

Is it possible to modify the stock Bose headunit on a c5z for Bluetooth capability? What all would I need? Has anyone successfully done this before? Forgive me if this topic has been beaten before but some of the responses I have seen are pretty dated. I've considered the double din but when it's all said and done I've decided that it's more important to me to maintain the factory aesthetics of the interior. Any responses are greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

I did it about three weeks ago. It cost me around $80-$90 when all was done. I purchased all my parts in December and was about to make a DIY thread, but the price of my Belkin Kit is now double what I paid for it. I used the GM10-AUX and a Belkin Bluetooth hands free kit with streaming.

I don't know all the rules here, so I am not sure if I can post a link to a certain website. Anyway there is another unit I almost bought it's a Kinivo brand and you can get it from a certain website that has prime shipping. It is $40 and you can get the PIE GM10-AUX for about $50 plus the 97-03 needs the COR-HAR harness. or you could just cut and splice like here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...r-harness.html

You could also do the $3 add an AUX port and put it on the face or have a rear mount mentioned here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...p-for-3-a.html
That would bring your cost to under $45 if you use the cheaper Bluetooth Kit mentioned above.

Test for my Belkin I can use hands free (nice while shifting gears). I can hear fine, but others sometimes have a hard time hearing me. A partition in my Z could fix that, since I have a big cam and loud exhaust. Testing (Belkin kit) works fine on IPhone 5 with 6.x IOS, also works on 5S with IOS 7.0.4 latest version (box only goes up to IPhone 4).
Functions: Siri works, answer phone, Bluetooth streaming, Pause/play, Forward to next track, Previous track or start song over work. This is all I have tested.

when it warms up I'll take a picture and post it.

Thanks for the very detailed and informative response. I new there had to be a way this could be done. As far as your testing that is great news on the hands free and all functions work on the radio. I would be using an IPhone 5. If you decide to post a DIY thread let me know. Otherwise, shoot me a PM. I understand the parts you mentioned, but I by no means am an electrician, and would want to make sure I'm purchasing the right stuff.

Thanks a great deal, Alex

I was curious if you had any update after living with this setup for awhile now? Any issues at all? Anything you might have done differently?

The only problems I have had was with my GM10-AUX. Sometimes it has just has an error and gets stuck on the radio. That being the only problem so far I would have just installed a remote $3 Aux jack.

The Belkin Bluetooth kit should work with the Zune Aux Kit correct? I'm thinking about buying this and connecting my phone directly to it via a cable. However, having Bluetooth would be great.

It looks like it would work with a 3.5-3.5 female-female connector from Radio Shack.

Any pics if this set up? I'm trying to figure out how I want to go about being able to play my iPod/iPhone in the car. Have an older adapter for my iPod but it only recognizes up to iPhone 4, so I can't use it with my iPhone.

Do a search for 30-pin (Apple) Bluetooth wireless adapters. They plug in directly into the older style iPod connector. This should allow you to connect via BT from your newer iPod or Android device.

Damn...not sure why I never thought of that....my buddy has one for his older Bose sound dock, time to read some reviews and see what is best!

I rarely even use my old PAC Audio iPod hook up since it only recognizes my old iPod video or up to the iPhone 4
