I'm so excited I received 2 big ole boxes yesterday with my Corsa Extreme system and Xpipe. I've watched the videos on the install and it seemed pretty straightforward to me and totally within my abilities to install. I have however decided to let the local muffler shop that works on hot rods and does custom exhaust handle the install for me. why???? 1) I don't have a drive on lift and the only way to get stock system out would be to cut it. 2) I really don't want to spend my weekend under my car cursing and getting dirty 3) I want to make sure there are no leaks. 4) spent $1400 on a sweet system for my C5 doesn't make sense to go all cheap on the install and take the chance of not being happy with my purchase. I figure I'll probably end up staring at her tips (yes i said TIPS) and then getting all OCD and re-adjusting them but maybe the dude will get it just perfect. Anywho i'm taking it in tomorrow morning and ready to cruise to Rolex 24 this weekend :-D
I'm sure others are thinking the same, but did someone ask why you aren't installing them your self? .
You will love the extremes, they are one of the best sounding exhausts available, shoulda skipped the x-pipe and gone with headers too.
LOL.... Hey I'm trying to convince myself that I'm being practical and not lazy by not doing it myself Funny thing is back in the day the car would have been up on stands last night and ripped apart but I'm working on getting wiser as I also get older however im not quite sure the two are increasing at the same ratio :-P
With out a lift it would be a pain. If the shop has done C5 mufflers in the past, it should be a breeze and a no brainer. Disconnect the sway bar from the cradle and swing it down, unbolt the mufflers and the flange, remove nuts at the hangers, and the mufflers can be guided out. The x-pipe will be the most difficult part, what sucks is the factory mid pipe will be cut after the converters, and the x-pipe will slip over the mid-pipe. I'm not a fan of hacking the factory equipment. Shouldn't take more than 2 hours if they are not familiar. Would take an hour for someone who is familiar. Well worth spending $100 to $200 rather than lay on your back and stress about it.
Congrats! I'll go as far as saying that the Corsa Extreme is probalby the best sounding catback out there. But, then again, I am slightly biased.
The install is not hard at all, really. I did my X-pipe and catback install with the rear of the car on jackstands. The hardest part was making sure that the measurements were right before cutting into the midpipe for X-pipe install. I also found that the job is much easier and more precise using a chaincutter. Apart from that, everything fit perfectly and tip alignment was easier than I thought.
I did have to cut the old catback to get it off but it is completely worthless so it was the easiest option. You can't even give them away.
Thanks guys, I'm super excited. I watched every youtube video I could find showing every system imaginable and comparison between that and stock. Some were just too obnoxious, some were barely any different sounding than stock, some I thought were too deep sounding and sounded like a typical 4x4 truck. I kept coming back to the Corsa Extreme videos and like the sound of them the best. I can't wait to hear and see it on my car.
I was this close to just cutting the factory system and doing it myself since like everyone tells me they are worthless so who really cares but like I said I thought I can drop it off on my way into work in the morning and pick up about noon and I didn't have to lift a finger, didn't get dirty, don't have to worry about leaks or something not fitting right. The shop does all custom work mostly and pretty much only hot rods and race cars so i'm pretty confident it won't be an issue. They are wanting $200 for the work which I felt was a bit much but they are small custom muffler shop and well in walks a guy with a bright red corvette and about a $1500 exhaust so i'm sure i got a little up charge. I was thinking $125 or $150 but then again they don't get to make anything on parts only labor so I can expect to maybe pay a little more. Either way if its done and done right and I don't have to mess with anything it'll be worth it to me. I'll snap some pics and let y'all know what I think... however i may have to warn my neighbors I may be a bit unbearable to live next to for a couple days :-) LOL
I love my Xtremes. I'm running longtubes so mines pretty loud when WOT
Congrats
High Five! Those long tubes can get pretty pricy plus install too. I'm holding off on those for the time being. However my will to abstain from upgrading anything is not exactly the strongest so.... :-)

I agree, mine is really loud at wot but what is crazy is how quiet it can be inside the car while cruising... you can literally have a conversation on the phone with the windows down no problems... but open it up and people around you will be reaching for ear plugs lol... a buddy of mine has slp on his and it makes tons of interior noise and drone but is far quieter on the outside of the car, the total opposite of the xtremes... I have longtubes, no cats, and a small cam also... the only other exhaust I considered was ghl and I almost bought a set just to compare them to my xtremes but after reading some horror stories of their business practice that was an easy pass and I will gladly stick with what I already have... keep us updated when you get them installed
$200 is reasonable with the mid-pipe, if they do a quality job and you're happy then it's a small price to pay.
Well...like you said assuming he does a quality job which I'm sure he will. I think it's a tad on the high side but I didn't dicker with him since I feel it's still fair for the trouble it saves me. Plus I'd rather give the dude a little extra and hope that he might put a little extra care into it since he is getting a like $100/hour just for labor.
I am willing to bet however that 17.8mpg i've been averaging takes quite a dip though but only from me getting giddy with the pedal
She's DONE!!!! Love it!!! Looks 100% sounds 100% better. It looks and sounds like Corvette IMO I was actually expecting it to be much much louder than it is. at Idle it has a nice rumble but not neighbor irritating rumble. Normal driving is slightly louder but nothing even close to obnoxious no drone whatsoever. WOT is louder but just sounds mean not like some fool kid that cut their mufflers off and straight piped their mustang. Being an automatic i'm sure has lots to do with the sound level too though since normal driving RPM's are kept pretty low. I kinda wanna downshift though just to giggle with glee over that wonderful burble :-)

looks great man!... you made the right choice with the 4" tips, they really fill in that area nicely... wait until you get headers and/or a cam... the car will screaaammm with a few more mods... corsa has a signature sound which some people don't prefer but I love it personally... most other exhausts are deep but they just don't have much punch... corsa on the other hand makes the car sound powerful in my opinion
