Hey guys: I am thinking about adding a Z to the stable, primarily for HPDE duty. My current Vert has 63K miles and still feels very tight, I am not sure how much longer that will last. I have a car in mind, but it has 80K miles on it. The motor, trans, and differential are fresh, but I am worried about having to replace suspension components: bushings, bearings, ball joints etc. I guess one way to look at is, suspension components are less expensive than drivetrain, and I can probably get away with more than a few track days. When do these cars start to feel loose and start requiring suspension work?
X2 on #2 post, however if diff/tranny/motor are fresh and you getting a great deal price wise...than why worry on suspension parts? in stock form they are cheap to replace which even gives you an additional peace of mind when you go HPDE track.....add little more and go with Pfadt: control arm bushing kit 400 bucks, labor to install these would be expensive though if someone is doing, pfadt ball joints expensive 125 a piece but very sturdy and can take the beat.....later you can add some other additional suspension parts as you progress on track.
leave Wheel bearings as is, when they go wheel wont off but howling/whining/growling sound very distinctive increases with rpm....replace at that time with SKF unit.
coil springs kind of waste of money may be consider shocks but leave leaf springs as is they are good.
how can you forget Tires n brakes.....hhahaha.
