I have a 2002 Z06 that the shop guy and I were driving to obtain the baseline for a tune due to P0430/P0420 codes. Since I have to pass emission testing I was going to have it tuned due to headers/high efficiency cats/x-pipes/ Borla Exhaust and Black Bird air intact.
While on the drive, a damn deer ran into the side of the car. I have attached a couple of pictures.
My questions is should I have the front panel and door skin replaced or just have it repaired? Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
Door panel can easily be filled and repainted. Quarter has too much damage to fix easily. It would be cheaper to replace the quarter and repaint. Hope that you at least got to keep the Venison !!
I ran into a piece of concrete on the road, long story short i had to replace the front fender and that was $430 or so, give or take a few bucks. That is also before paint and prep. If you have a good insurance with a low deductible like I do, I would call your insurance. $250 is my deductible and the job to repair my car was almost $3,000. So in my case it was worth the $250.
Before we turned around and went back, the deer was already gone. There was a car off in the distance that I saw when the deer ran into the side. I did see the deer in the rear view mirror on the side of the road. Being in Tennessee I would think they had fresh meat.
Already started the 'dance' with the insurance company about repair, used parts and OEM parts. Have 2 very different estimates. One from the insurance company, 'preferred provider' that does not do much Corvette work at $1800 and a place that does work on Corvettes at $ 5300. Insurance shop said that if they find additional damage they can get more money from the company. Have meeting with the adjuster Monday. We will see what happens!
Thanks for all your replies.
