Default Help with FOB receiver replacement

I'd like some help with replacing the receiver for the FOB & tire monitor sensors on my 99 coupe ... it's in the rear drivers side of the car, but my maintenance manual is not really very clear on removal of the rear interior panel to access it. Anyone have some helpful hints?

I replaced mine in 2007. ('98 Targa) I recall the unit itself was a direct R & R, plug an play. I don't recall how I removed the panel, but for me to do it, it must have been just an easy pop out panel. I "think" I pulled it out from the top. Unless you get a better suggestion give it a try.

I changed mine on my '99.

Try looking at
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...aded-tpms.html

The trim panel is held on with double sided tape at the top (in addition to the plastic twist nuts). Take a knife or a thin blade to go between the trim panel and the body. You will need to cut and pry it a little to pull it down. I also worked a little to wiggle it at the back and lower back sections where it meets other trim panels. Just take your time and it will come out.

I did the upgrade to the newer style '01-'04 receiver/fobs/TPMS. If you are doing that swap you will need a new connector too since the wire harness on the early cars has a different connector that will not plug into the later receivers. On one post I read that the computer power supply to a floppy drive will work, but when I lined it up, it was not a match and I did not want to force it and bend pins.

A good link for the connection changeover is
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...e-sensors.html
Look at posts 1 and 21 for the detail of the wiring to the new receiver.

Good luck.
