Default Questions for all.

probably sound like a dumb question, but you don't learn with out asking dumb questions. anyway, I have a stock z06 (04) i want to do a cold air intake, throttle body, and exhaust. not sure if can pull off some long tubes but maybe some shorties. any difference in shorties over stock? i know long tube headers are like the gods but hurts the wallet $800+. in search for some used parts. also would i benefit if i ported a throttle body and use a cai in conjunction with each other? i have the zip tie mod and borla axle back as of now. any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

thank you,
jumpin

The stock Ti's are lightweight and have nice flow. Unless you want something more throaty, save money and keep the Ti's on.

I would not waste your money with the TB not really much to gain there in my research IIRC. and with shorty's are a not really worth it seeing how long tubes are not really that much more...intake I would go with either callaway or the vararam style as both are great intakes, as far as the Stock Ti's go, they flow great, just as good as any aftermarket exhaust and they are light, an aftermarket exhaust will only net you more aggressive sound which a lot of vette owners prefer, and a tune will benefit you greatly as well!

Go with a good set of long tube headers, high flow cats and an x-pipe and you'll get a decent bump in HP. Combine that with a good air intake such as Vararam, Callaway Honker, or a Blackwing and a tune and you will notice a nice difference in the performance of the car.

I've been watching like a shark on that side of the world. whats so bad about shorties? don't they help the top end? i also thought long tube help in all aspect but mostly torque? are they're such things as mid length? anyway, not to get into a big debate on headers.

i planned on getting a cold air intake and tune. to me the tune is the most important because of the calibration of the temps coming into the engine. i already have borla axle back and a catalytic deletes. my car was on the dyno and made 353whp and 343 ft lbs. would be nice to achieve the 380-400 whp. now i know a exhaust and a intake are gonna along help me achieve that but i guess its a start.

My son and I both have Z16 Commemorative cars. Mine is bone stock, his has a Calloway Honker, ported throttle body, Calloway shorties, Calloway cat back and a tune. The seat of the pants feel is very noticeable.
