There is a small hole just above and below the handle itself where the cover meets the handle. You can stick a small screwdriver or whatever you can fit in the hole and it should push the covers tab up and unlatch. The cover should pull right off then. Be careful you don't break the tabs on the cover though.

I agree. Gentle pressure when releasing the tabs will keep them from breaking.
