Default Service Steering Column Lock

I read the info in tech on this issue but I'm not sure how to handle my situation.
I have a 2001 and got the message but it went away when I hit reset and I drove the car without any issues. I stopped a couple of times and got the message every time I restarted the car and I just hit reset and no problems.

I have a manual transmission and my battery is at 14.3. Should I be concerned that I'm going to get stranded?

One other issue that may or may not be related is that my headlights popped up when I started the car for the first time but went down after about 30 secs.

Thanks

I got these warning after I left my headlights on overnight and killed the battery. I replaced the battery and haven't gotten them since.

Power monitor should have shut the lights off after about 15 minutes.

Wish it had. Might have something to do with me removing the fuse for twilight sentinel? For some reason, before I removed the fuse, the headlights would come on no matter what, and couldn't be put back down unless I turned the car off, nor could twilight sentinel simply be disabled through the DIC. I couldn't figure it out, so I removed the fuse.

I ignored it on my '98 and one day at work, I couldn't drive home. Hello, flat bed.

Thanks, but my battery is at 14+. Can't see replacing a perfectly good battery.

Thank you for the information. Your right I didn't understand the battery readings. I've heard that replacing your battery makes the issue go away.

I might go that route.

Perhaps you have lots more money to throw around than I, but I would be trying to determine if the battery is good or bad BEFORE I just swapped parts.
I wish. I'm not mechanical at all so I'm going to have to pay to resolve the problem. If a battery will fix the problem it's the cheapest way out.

Borrow a voltimeter. You can handle it! Or you could take it to autozone, they'll test it for free. Just make sure they test it as 8VETTE7 said.

Well, the battery was going bad so I had it replaced. When I started the car I got the same error and the headlights came up for a couple of minutes. Looks like I'm going to have to deal with the issue. Damn.........
