Default Drivers side window - wont roll down

Looks like its either the motor or the regulator. Id like to attempt this repair myself so I'm wondering how hard of a job is it? Any personal experiences with this? Any tips or insights on what to do or should I say what NOT to do?

TIA!

Found this in an older thread. Might work for ya. Wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

Interesting ... I just read the motor contacts get sticky and another method is too remove the door panel and whack the motor with a hammer a couple of times ....

Thanks for sharing this information - much appreciated.

It could also be the door module that controls the window and lock. A common failure is one of the relays inside which are very inexpensive and you can replace yourself. I have that guidance and even if you can't solder I am sure you can find someone to do it.

You need to remove the door panel and start investigating. If it is not clearly the regulator itself we can tell you how to jumper the motor to see if it is the motor or something else like the module, connector loose, or even a bad window switch. I doubt it is the switch but diagnostics will have to find out.

All my info is at home but I can provide you with anything you need if you let me know.

There is very good info on the Forum on removing the door panel (I have that link too). I plan to go into my passenger side sometime soon since it will only manually lock or unlock.

At least in my opinion, it is preferable to have it not go down versus not go up.

Have the same issue, mine works if the door is wide open, I was told I have a pinched wire in the door jam, I understand it's a common issue.

Thank you - definitely not rolling it down until the door panel is off and I can see whats happening. I also dont think its the switch as the window had an issue where it would slow down half down/up when being rolled but it did finish - up till yesterday. Guess I know what Im doing tomorrow.
