Default C5 Drriver seat

I have noticed about 1 inch of free play in the drivers seat position when coming to a stop or taking off quickly. Has anyone had this issue and what will it cost/take to repair. I just bought my 2002 C5 coupe about a month ago. Love it, has been a blast driving. Thanks

yes, I have the exact same issue with my 02. Here in Va, they almost failed me on my inspection because of it. I know there is a kit out there to get it fixed.

Search for rocking seat. Lots of talk about it on this forum, and how to fix.

Easy fix. You do not need to buy the kit. You can use nylon washers from a hardware store and trim the sides. The kit has a wrench and good instructions though. I bought the kit and used nylon washers on the passenger seat.

an inch? wow

mine has a little wiggle and i've been meaning to do this. an inch is excessive, would make driving kind of dangerous

the kits with wrench and instructions are something like $25 if you shop around

actually, here's one and it shows what all you get

Search the forum. I had the same issue with my 99 this summer. I was going to get the kit, then i found a step by step with pictures here on the forum. I bought $1.56 worth of nylon washers and about 1-1/2 hours of my time. I am far far from a wrench....if i can do this, anyone can...Seats are tight like new now.

Here it is. Gives part number for washer at Ace Hardware. It super easy. You will have to file/grind one side of washers flat....you will see it in the pictures.

did you actually find the right thickness somewhere? or did you use a belt sander and sand them down?

the link tells you what size to buy, you have to sand the "circle" flat on one size. there are pics of what the need to look like. i used a dremel tool.

Just make sure you keep both tracks even and it's easy. I did mine while they were out getting new covers and heaters.

If it is really moving an inch, there is more wrong than just the shims. The shim thickness is only like .120 x 2. Rod
