I use my HUD almost exclusively...I agree and said many times all vehicles should have HUD. Could eliminate dash gauges entirely, lol.

You really did a good job on that mod. I replaced the cracked HUD bezel on mine about 5 months ago. I had to take the whole dash pad out for that job too and I know its a lot of "fun". What is your next mod that you have accomplished this one?

The first time is always a little scary but now that I've done it and found out it really wasn't as bad as I thought it might be I could probably yank that thing out in less than 10 minutes easy... however I'd prefer to avoid that if poosible

I just got in the aluminum gauge surrounds so that will be tonights project. Plus I have to move that Airbag light to the correct spot too... Kinda forgot to do that before I put the cluster back in. Next mod... hummm. I'm really wanting to sell my chrome Z06 wheels and go with new 19/20 mesh set up but trying to put off until after taxes are paid. Probably going to do what I can on the cheap...paint the rear lower part of the rear valance and paint my ugly azz brake calipers after that its going to be rear spoiler from wings west.

Thank you, I thought about it but honestly the how to on doing this mod posted here on the forum is so well documented with pics I didn't really think I could come up with any that would show anything that the OP didn't already show in the How to. Here is the link if you don't already have it http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...d-install.html

Nice, I installed the HUD in mine in 2000. Still works great and only too 4 hours from start to finish to get it in!!

How would I even know where the cut lines under dash pad were at if I didn't pull it out?
Hey can I ask how hard it was to remove the gauge bezel connection up under the dash? I hear its hard to see and not much room to manuver.

Really wasn't too bad. There is plenty of wire so you can pull the cluster out a pretty good ways. No you can't see but there is plenty of room for your hand behind it and you can feel the plug the release for the main plug is on the inside just push it in with your fingers and give it a little tug and it pops out. If you have HUD the plug is pressed in nothing to press. Putting it back in the tabs for the HUD plug face toward the cluster.

Not to hi jack but it seems the going used rate is about $250. That's what my buddy Robert Miller found mine in the for sale section for. But, you might check with a vendor like "vettenuts". Mark has everything you could need to replace for our vettes. Not sure if he has any right now or how much you might expect to pay him. Other than that check the for sale section

tbrent - Ain't no thing but a chicken wing my friend High Five! It's definitely worth it of you ask me especially since you've already yanked the cluster. It's really nice to have a constant reminder of how fast your going right there on your windshield. I don't find it distracting at all since at night I can turn the brightness down.

$250 for everything is a deal! I paid a little over $300 for mine. That was with a new cluster, projector, dimmer switch and connector for the dimmer and I thought that was a deal.

Nice job Pirate. After seeing how much has to be taken apart I'm really happy mine had HUD!!

I'm a road warrior and use my window mounted GPS exclusively in my truck. In the Corvette I don't know if I ever look at the dash!

I replaced my HUD last year. I hated when it was inoperable, I use it all the time especially at night time. The HUD is well known for breaking ( hit one BAD imperfection in the road and the projector will drop as one or both screws will break. The projector is held in place by 2 screws I Believe in the projector case. I purchased last year for $325 the projector, the dimmer switch and connector and the bezel replacement for the top of the dash pad also. I believe it was from the GM parts warehouse. As a few guys already said, an easy install although I had a tech from the Chevy dealer I work at do it while I was working For $100.
