I take mine to a self serve car wash but have not taken it through any automatic wash. I feel I can get it cleaner doing the self serve routine, especially the wheel wells and undercarriage. Plus the spot free rinse really does a great job of keeping water spots off the car.
I went to a supposedly "upscale" hand wash, but it used the guide tracks on the floor. Along with the swirl marks, they badly scraped two of the wheels. Now I go to a local detail shop for a hand wash, no tracks. The best part is that they only charge about $10.00 more than the other place, and do an outstanding job.
i couldn't do the auto wash even if i wanted to. . . she has been lowered and can't fit over the tire engagement rail! Guess i will be a hand wash guy till I die! lol.....besides i can keep better track of body/paint issues doing the hand wash thing.
I've owned many black cars. 3 in Arizona. My Vette will never see an automatic car wash. I limit the time required washing by regularly using quick detail spray. Regular investment knocking the dust off and a great coat of wax help keep wash time to a minimum.
same here, actually gets washed about twice a year, at home,
I ran mine through a touchless wash and it did great. I wanted to see if it leaked more than anything plus it was very cold that day. I am a neat freak and always hand wash but this car wash in my town does an excellant job. I don't use it very much but if it is cold and I don't want to mess with it, I use it.
I never take any of my cars through them, wash all by hand, its fun in the sun to me, well at least outdoors not really in sun. But for those that do it doesnt bother me.
I will run my truck thru a nice car wash...not one at the gas station!!! My 01 vette has 92,000 miles and always garaged and parked under canopy at work. Waxed regularly and NEVER been thru car wash.....paint still looks showroom new...no swirls anywhere!!! It is a commitment but worth the effort of hand washing or rinsing if you want your paint to look good after many years!!!!
Since I have owned my Black coupe it has seen very few washes. California Duster and Chemical Guys Detail spray. It takes about 10 minutes, usually do while the wife finishes getting ready. Only wash when I am going to clay bar and re-wax ( multiple coats).
