Default Gauge surround trim ring install

Since I had to take my cluster out to fix the Airbag light issue that goes along with doing the HUD mod I figured now would be a good time to install my New aluminum looking surround trim rings. This was a very simple mod to do (once the cluster is removed) thought I would show just how easy it was and how nice I think it looks. I will not post about cluster removal because that is already on the forum in several places. I really like the look of sorta having separate gauges. With the trim rings in places in kinda reminds me of the Autometer race gauges I used to have in my prostreet car. Anyway I know this one is fairly simple on the mod list but it's low cost and I myself like to see how something is done before I do it no matter how simple it is.

Here is the ones I ordered they are made by Vision Motorworks and seemed pretty nice. They are plastic and are attached with thin strips of double sided tape.

There are 6 T15 torque screws that hold the bezel on to the cluster itself remove these and the bezel (trim) will pop off the cluster

Pop the tabs out of the clear plastic cover that goes over the gauge cluster and it pops off

Here is what you now have and you are ready to put on your trim rings

[IMG][/IMG]

This is what comes in the trim ring set. Trim rings for all gauges and plenty of strips of double sided tape

[IMG][/IMG]

Just peel the backing off the tape and apply to the trim rings. It is pretty much a perfect fit. I found it easier to bend the tape around (particularly with the smaller rings) if both sides of backing ar removed otherwise the backing paper doesn't really want to let the tape bend into that much of a curve.

[IMG][/IMG]

Just line it up and press it on... viola 1st gauge is done and looking fabulous

[IMG][/IMG]

Just finish doing the rest of the trim rings the same way

Pop the clear cover back on to the cluster and put back on the black trim bezel and put your screws back in and YOUR DONE!

Looking really good and you did pick a good time to do the mod since you had the dash apart anyway.

HINT:

Take your time, move slowly, and by all means keep things clean.

That piece of lint you leave behind will but the snot out of you as you drive.

Good luck
