I have a single din put into my car at the moment, but i dont like it. I want something sublte and looks OEM. Defiently something with a touch screen. I havent given the guys at DD Mods a call yet, Because I want to hear from you guys what Double Din Stero System you have and how you like it, Price and Pics if you have them.
Ditto on the above replies. Bought my FRC last year and the Double Din was the first mod that I did. After reading about Dennis on this forum, I took a 2 hour road trip to see Dennis and can tell you he is top notch. His recommendations will get you where you want to be and his prices are excellent!!! Kenwood touchscreen (DDX470, Focal door speakers, and an Arc Audio with stealth box....very impressive sound.
Mine gets here soon. Check out my thread as I install and review. I got a Kenwood DNN990. My number one reason for this model was a multi-touch screen (no one else makes one). The number 2 reason was Garmin is the market leader for navigation by far.
Another vote for a call to Dennis. Great guy and will guide you in the right direction. Just explain what you want your system to do and he'll hook you up. I have a Kenwood DNX690HD. Just put it in last weekend--will be waiting for a few weeks to get my bezel back.
Pros: Kenwoods use Garmin GPS with live traffic and weather.
Cons: Interface is a little wonky but it's functional.
Well another vote for Dennis. The bezel he did below will be installed shortly with a Kenwood DNX690HD and Kenwood backup camera as well. The picture looks like there are dual bars below the DD opening but it is a shadow. The three instrument pods above the DD opening will house the Fuel Pressure Gauge, Nitrous Pressure Gauge and a round Nitrous control switch center with 4 mini toggle switches (pic below).
bobeast, how bad were the Pioneers? I plan on doing a double din soon, and was going to use Pioneer. Maybe I need to find someone local with one and see what they are like.

As I recall, they both took up to 10 seconds to boot up every time I started the car.
Another issue, at least with the older AVIC units; Everything required a separate module. Separate Bluetooth module, separate GPS hideaway unit, separate XM radio , etc. I started running out of places to hide all the little boxes.
Other units have most of this stuff built into the head unit. To be fair, this was a couple years ago, and Pioneer may have gotten better, since.
You guys are the best! so basically Everyone is telling me to call DD, So Thats i am going to do this weekend. Im glad i Posted this because a slow head unit would make me go crazy. I want hy head unit to be faster than my car

Mine is model AVIC-X920 which is not made any longer, I believe the replacement was AVIC-X940 or 950, I installed it myself, It was not too bad to do with Dennis' help.
