Regret buying a McLeod clutch. Should've used the money to start my auto swap sooner.

I would like to know from those that did a heads and fast swap with already having a cam. How noticeable is the power difference and is it worth the money? I'm researching not wanting to waste money lol!

Going with 19"/20" wheel sizes. The super low profile tires where just too brutal around town and I would cringe as I hit potholes!!!

Yeah, I've pretty much concluded that a 18 front & 19 rear is the best wheel/tire setup on the C5.

AFAIK, My RPS twin is not the problem. I did the clutch/Tick at the same time, in a fit of overkill. I will try to install a new MC first, and see if this is the largest part of the problem. I've done all of my own wrench work, but my after having my second neck surgery, the lack of mobility prevents me from jumping into a difficult job. So, the car just sits more. Right now, I'm thinking of selling, because driving it is so difficult. When your entire neck is fused, you move kind of like a robot.

When you take tire cost into account, it's hard to beat 17/18....

I regret putting a 6 puck clutch (textralia OZ700) in my car, it held but couldn't wait for it to start slipping, it chattered all it's life and was like a switch.

I also regret pulling my heads twice, and not porting them

Except they don't make good street tires in c5z 17/18 sizes anymore. You either need narrower wheels or taller wheels.

I really can't say that I've done any mods I regret either. I'll research to death anything that's going to cost any considerable amount of money so I won't be paying again to reverse it. I bought my car new and there isn't anything I regret, including lowering and 18" wheels all around. I just bought a new shift **** and even that took forever for me to decide on. A company called Speeddawg has a large selection of great looking shift ***** that felt great driving with the first time today. Not cold in the winter or hot in summer.

A past set of CCW's...shifter...flush tail light kit (got rid of that in 10 minutes)...that's about it. Everything else have been awesome mods.

I'm actually currently in the process of installing the XS Power headers myself and, while it's definitely not a walk-in-the-park due to some clearance issues, I've actually enjoyed the challenge so far. I need to make one small tweak tomorrow which should be enough to get the entire system bolted up. If that doesn't work, well.. then I may have to step back reassess the situation

As for mods I actually regret... can't say I really have any of those yet, but, I've only owned my Vette for ~7 months so i have plenty of time to throw money away on junk!!

Maybe my biggest regret is not going over my Z with a fine tooth comb prior to purchase... I saw a shiny black Z06 in person ready for purchase and just threw money at the PO. There aren't any major problems but I've run into little things here and there I'd never let happen to any car I ever owned so it rubs me the wrong way thinking of how careless the PO could have been.

As one of the guys who gave up waiting on the OXS headers and have been enjoying the 416 swap into my Z16...it sounds as if I would have a huge regret had I not gone with the ARH I used.

Can't say I regret the tick master though it and the mantic clutch keep me from spending money at the gym for a leg workout...but no clutch to the floor after a 20 minute session either.

On other cars...not doing the research and really knowing what I wanted to end up with in regards to power, brakes, suspension and doing a few multiple times. SSBC is NOT a brand to use if you really want to stop the car, and if 400hp is good, 500hp is better...wait, no 600...hold on, maybe I want to go 10.00...that'll take more then 600hp...okay, now breaking into the 9's and I think I'm done. Should have gone right there to start with and saved $10,000. Crap!

After reading through the thread in the Parts section, you appear to be in the minority as far as enjoying the process goes.

As I mentioned earlier, I was eyeballing them but in the end decided to take a pass. Very glad I did now. I'd be sick if I had to make a bunch of alterations to the car or take a hammer to the headers themselves just to shoe horn them in. I guess that's what happens sometimes when rolling the dice to try and save a few bucks. You win some, you lose some.

Lol.. this is very true... I guess I just like tinkering. I almost gave up last night after having to take the driver-side headers out and re-install 3 times to get the dimpling right but.. I got them in. Now I'm just hopeful the rest of the system bolts up without any headaches and I'll be good to go!
