Hello Yall,
We have a 99 C5 Corvette automatic that had a perfectly working driver side seat, until a few minutes ago. A friend of mine (a big dude...300 pounds plus) has been thinking about buying a C5 Corvette and asked me if he could drive test mine. after he managed to squeeze in the Vette, he moved the seat as far as it went to the back. After the drive test, I noticed the seat would not move forward any longer, it just clicks as you push the button forward...Any ideas?
Happened to me the day I was buying my 99 c5. Was picking it up from the PPI and was so worried! I ended up kneeling next to my car, pressing the forward switch and simultaneously pulling the seat forward with my left hand. Ended up working immediately! Goodluck!
I think I figured it out. There is a black two wire plug that plugs to the bottom of the seat on the right side of the seat about halfway. This plug had come unplugged. I think when the big guy got in the seat, the extra weight spread the seat a little more than usual and the wire got stuck between the seat and the middle divider resulting in pulling the wire until it came unplugged.
The problem I have is that there is enough room for a tiny baby's hand to get in there and replug it...No way my big hand can fit in there. I would take the seat off the Vette, but with the seat is in the backward most position, I won't be able to get to the back two bolts.
I'll see if the wife's much smaller hands would do the trick, then I'll report back
