First does it pull with 91 octane fuel all the time? I know the knock sensors do if they detect detonation--im sure the outside temp also plays into it--thx.
Guys in the tuning section will give you specifics, but the amount of timing pulled depends on all of those factors, including octane, temperature, air density, etc. Every car will be different, too.
i suggest you download hptuners software, and download a stock Z06 file, go to the timing section, and u'll see the numerous parameters that pulls timing.
I don't believe it pulls based of the octane, there's no "octane" sensor to my knowledge. but it would pull based on intake temp, coolant, knock etc.
There's a high and low octane table, it will switch to the low octane table if any of the parameters is triggered.
Air Intake Temp has a table in it that can be adjusted but the hotter the reading the more timing it pulls regaurdless if the engine sees knock or not.
Knock sensors see knock and it will pull.
Coolant Temp
Traction Control System will pull timing and shut the TB as needed
Any Check Engine or SES Lights (Depending on what the code is) can kick it to read off the Low Oct. table as well
