Most ads are for Stainless Steele front and rear bumper letters for a C5
I found on E-Bay, Chrome letters for considerably less money.
Like less than 1/3 the cost of SS.
Does anyone have any experience with Chrome letters?
What would the preference be?

Just my opinion, but if you want the look of chrome on the back of the car, get a good set of stainless steel letters. I think they will last a lot longer than a chromed set.

I think he is asking why are they so much cheaper?
I've got the plastic chromed ones. They've been back there for about 5 years and look as shiny as when they were first stuck on, and mine ain't no garage queen.
It's just me but i don't like the chrome. Different strokes for different folks though.
I personally run the domed ones from amazon. They're 1/8 thick and are from GM. Do a search for "Corvette C5 Rear Bumper Black Letters Insert " on their site.
I don't have any experience with the chrome letters however I chose to go with the Stainless Steel inserts. I think it is worth the extra coin for sure!
Everyone is different and that is a good thing. I have been spending time trying to figure out how to fill the letters (shave them) so it does not say "CORVETTE" on the rear bumper. It's how I think it should have come from the factory. There are countless other "CORVETTE" tags already on the car not counting the front and rear emblems. But again thats just me and maybe only me.

I have a picture on my external hard drive of a car with them shaved/smoothed/filled. I will post it when I get out of work if you'd like.
