Borla Guys, Come on in
I will be buying a set of Borla Exhaust, Problem is I dont know what they sound like. YouTube doesnt do much justice for me. so I would like to know from some people who have a set of Borlas. I'm basically looking for something Mid-Ranged, Louder and more aggressive than Stock, but not Overdone. I will not be adding headers, everything else is stock. What do you guys thing the best sounding borla system set up is?

I have the S-Type Classic Stingers with the round cans and quad oval tips. The muffler design is straight-thru. It tends to produce some drone at certain RPMs, but it's really not that bad. However, the sound produced is aggressive and throaty. I'd consider it mid-range. Borla has also come out with the S-Type II design that has oval cans with oval tips. This newer S-Type II design is supposed to prevent the drone effect like the Corsa. However, according to a Borla tech I spoke to, the S-Type II sound is not quite the same as compared to the original S-Type Classic. He said that the S-Type Classic is the more popular Stinger version that most Corvette owners buy and install.

I did a lot of looking before buying mine. I wanted something that was loud and deep with that muscle sound. Got what I wanted but did get the drone with it. They are pretty civil when driving normal but scream when on the gas. The only other one I considered due to sound was the GHL setup. The two systems had the sound I was looking for. When ordering the GHL system was out of stock so it was Borla for me.
A search should pull up a post of the sounds difference of the GHL and Borlas from a member here. Can't remember the poster off the top of my head but he may pop in. Two silver vettes and a range of comparisons. Worth the look.

From your description it is borla stingers are exactly what you are looking for. Great deep tone, not overly loud, I dont get drone. Most people get drone with headers and say when they get too loud but since you wont be doing that you dont have anything to worry about.

I was running Borla Stingers on my stock Z06 and they sound nice but they are a little too mellow-toned for my taste.
I just installed some long tubes and ran it for the first time last night.. she sounds mighty purdy now... actually just about perfect
Here's a before & after video
2004 Z06
Before: Stock + Borla Stinger Axelback
After: Vararam / XS Power Long Tubes w/ Hi-Flow Cats / Borla Stingers

Aren't Stingers are on the quieter side. Is there something just one step up on the aggressive side? I dont mind a little drone.

It's going to change getting louder as you open up the exhaust - headers, 3" X-pipe with high flow cats or no cats at all. I't also going to change with the addition of a cam etc. I had the stingers 2 round tip and traded for the 4 tips. I don't notice the drone & not sure everybody refers to drone as the same thing. I was interested in the flow characteristics between the two. I knew my combo worked with two tip and am happier with the sound of the 4 tips. They flow the same!
One car with borla and the other Corsa ... both have a great sound IMO

The difference is the tone... the stingers have a more 'rounded' tone (one way i can think to describe it) rather than some of the other systems I've heard which are more metallic like the Corsa Extreme. If I had picked a different axle-back prior to my long tube install I would have gone with Corsa Extremes but I love the way the Stingers sound with LTs now
Best way to go about it, if you can, find a local Corvette meet and see what everything sounds like in person.

I recently replaced my Borla Quad Tip Stingers with Z06 TI's. The Borla's sounded really good on acceleration but mellow during cruise. My only issue was the drone at highway speed. I like the TI's but I do sometimes miss the aggressive sound the Borla's produced.

If you're going to run a stock setup with a Borla Stinger cat-back exhaust system, it will get louder at acceleration and higher cruising speeds.
