Is the C5 still a desirable and sought after Vette, does it maintain a good resale value, how do they sale compared to a C6?

i bought my z because its better looking than any other year. and it feels good. great resale value unless you plan on selling it in idk 5+ years, who know swhere the market will go especially once c6 prices plummet when the c7 goes onto the used market. 04 c5s and 05 c6s are not too far off from eachother as it is

I think the Z's will always hold value well while the base C5's especially the earlier years will just sink like a rock, Wayyy too many produced, getting quite dated, HP isn't very impressive by today's standards, cheap interior, etc. etc.

Early model C6's w/ LS2 motor will also be very cheap comparitively speaking as well, I think the LS3 C6's, particularly Z51 models will be most sought after behind the Z's.

For me - I wanted a C5 Z06 03 or 04, I wouldn't pay for a base C5 period. The only non-Z C6 I would have been interested in was a GS or Z51 optioned 6 speed manual car, any other base car was of very little interest to me. All depends on who the buying demographic is, if its the mid-life crisis crowd looking to get a vert w/ an auto tranny there's a HELL of a lot better cars out there much newer than a C5 to fill that niche nowadays.

For performance enthusiasts its GS, Z51, or Z06/ZR1 nothing base is worth it.

I will say, I'm happy I went w/ a C5Z and saved some coin rather than stretching for the C6 Z as it seems there's a lot more reliability/durability issues w/ that LS7 than the LS6

In my opinion, the C5 Z, properly modified, is far better looking than any C6.

I also like the way the C5Z looks and it still makes me smile driving it. I look at carmax every now an then. Price for the C5Zs seem pretty good. There were 3-4 on their yesterday...only see one today. Another good resource is reviewing the c5zs on the ebay completed/sold listing for a feel of what these are going for. Life is too short not to enjoy your ride...quit worrying about resale value. Regardless of all the new technology, designs and capabilities, the zs will always be a special car. Just my $.02.
