Default Vert trunk release question.

Its been a long winter and the last time I released the vert trunk was 5 months ago...is it normal not to be able to open the trunk with the car running? I tried to open it no way until I shut car off. (Sucks having to park car for such a long time and forgetting how it functions) Thanks, Rob

My trunk won't pop up enough to get my fingers under it unless I pop the button on the fob and then open and close the drivers door with roof closed.
This is despite replacing both struts on the trunk.
There is an aftermarket latch attachment that may help pop the trunk a bit when the fob is triggered so you can get your fingers under the lid.

But it won't impact the joy of driving

Corvettemods has that piece for like 15-20 bucks. They're a vendor here I believe.

You could probably make one for buck or two.

Thanks guys...first thing I thought something has broken and second was how could I forget?! Suggestion for responses that the trunk doesn't pop open enough, well I had the same issue years ago. Annual WD40 application on the locking mechanism fixes it quickly, believe it. Greetings, Rob

I will try that and lube the rest of the hinges, locks etc, too.

I have the same problem. Before you buy anything, I just went out and turned the two rubber trunk bumpers 1/2 to 1 turn and it now it opens fine.

I had the same issue. I just replaced the two struts and it's like brand new. I the GM replacements were around $20 each but I think you can find generic ones cheaper. Had to change the ones for the convertible cover as well. They were around the same price but slightly different length.
