I undertook the interesting surgical operation of replacing all the button lights on the HVAC module last night. What a bear, but I did get them replaced, working and reinstalled the unit.
That's when I realized that the general lighting package, the row of LED (I think they are LEDs) didn't light up and haven't been lit for YEARS. Is there a simple solution to this - something that has a cold solder joint like the display pellets?
If you mean the digital display then yes. Do a search for dim hvac display fix. I fixed mine two years ago and it still works great.
No - not the digital display. That's fixed and works fine. I should have been more clear. At night with the headlights on the button/controls don't light up so if I need to adjust the mode I can't see the button. I thought the buttons have a cutesy light configuration.
If I understand you replaced the button lights which were originally incandescent bulbs. There are no original LEDs for any lights for the actual controls and buttons. Do they just not light when the headlights are ON?
Maybe a picture would tell us what you are trying to communicate.
Yes I think a picture would help. I replaced my bulbs too and I know what you mean by being a bear to do! Is your dimmer switch turned down when your headlights are on?
