I was driving my Z the other day and while changing gears from 4-5 it would slide all the way over and attempt to go into reverse. I was just cruising around with no "spirited" driving. I did not grind the reverse gear because I have been driving a 6 speed long enough..4th car with a 6 speed, and realized that it was not in the proper position for 5th.
Im sure that this issue has been addressed somewhere but I just couldn't find it. Is this a known issue or just a random fluke?
It did it 2 seperate times on this particular day and I probably changed gears from 4-5 20 times or so this day.
I had the same issue (but I was grinding against reverse a few times before I just skipped going to 5th gear for a while). I had my reverse lockout solenoid replaced. No more grinding going 4th to 5th.
I knew there was supposed to be a lock out. This is the 4thcar with a T-56 transmission...I know this is a MN12 but you know what i mean..and the only one to ever do it. Car only has 32,xxx miles. I dont really want to pay to have the solenoid replaced...saving for a supercharger kit!! Is there any other reason it may be doing this and only occassionaly? Thanks in advance
I was told, if not the reverse lockout solenoid it could be internal (bent fork or bad synchro). Much more expensive to repair. I'm glad my problem was the solenoid!
