Default Having bumperrs painted....

I would love to hear from other members on this issue. Is is better to have the bumpers removed and painted off the car? There only a couple stone chips ...No real damage, I plan to show the car this summer and just want it perfect. What would someone expect to pay for this ... Thanks

My personal opinion is that if you remove them, you stand a good chance of buggering them up again re-installing them.

Seems like after you repaint them they chip up about 3 times as fast as they did before.

I took my front bumper off myself and had it painted. Very easy to do and no problems with the install. Only way to do it if you go for a respray. If you drive your car, I 'm not sure I would did it for a few rock chips.

Rock chips just prove you drive the car. Is it really worth the money just to try impress a few spectators at a car show? No one cares about a few rock chips and if you drive the car you will probably get more..

Why not just get some touch up paint? I recently used duplicolor on my front bumper and you can't even tell

only way to do it right is to remove it.

I've never messed up a body panel re-installing it after getting it painted.

It would never even occur to me to consider that a factor.

Really? I've seen that used in a infomercial and wasn't sure if the end result was as good as it looked on tv.

I personally would take the bumpers off and have them painted. As long as you take your time and are careful, you should not mess up the paint when re-installing the pieces.

I've have had a friend for 20 plus years that ownes his own bodyshop. Mike has done work for me in the past and I believe he'll be able to successfully paint and replace with out issue. He has said the best way is to paint them off the car.

Paint it off. Be CERTAIN that flex additive is used in the shoot. 3m blue masking tape on critical areas help reduce/minimize when reinstalling.

$250.00 - $275.00 I don't remember for sure. I took the front bumper off, took it to the painter, He did all the prep and sprayed the torch red. He mixes his own paint and the match was perfect.

Because thick paint chips easier and the chips are deeper (since there is more paint to chip).

A quick and dirty way to do this is just to separate the facia's from the fenders/quarter panels and paint them on the car. The BEST way it to remove them for sure.

I would use the touch up with brush,if done right you shouldn't be able to spot the repair and it will be much cheaper. If you do decide to repaint I would remove it you will get a much better paint job.

Can this be touched up with a brush:

I currently have it covered with red duct tape, but would like something better. Car is tracked, so not sure it won't happen again, so not really wanting to repaint whole bumper.
