Default LS mate for the C5

So I am in process of picking up a 20k mile TBSS and my questions are:

1) Do you have a preferred car carrier that you work with?

2) What is the best position on an open carrier? Top? Bottom? Front? Back? I'm thinking top middle or top back but I could be wrong.

3) Also, does anyone have a best practice for long distance purchase with private party? I was going to do Deposit, Seller ships car without title and I receive then go to the bank to wire balance of the funds and have seller overnight title. Anybody have a different process that is safer without incurring the costs of an escrow company. If escrow companies are cheap then maybe that is the way to go. How much do they cost?

I've hada couple cars shipped to me being that i'm military and I can't always take time off to go pick up a car a few hundred miles away. The last one I bought a 94 RX7 from Rhode Island and had it shipped to El Paso. Both times I used American Eagle Auto Transport and they did a great job getting it to me in great condition. Middle Bottom or Middle/Back Top is what i'd use.

For those who want to file this away for your transport needs: If you like doing business with a small company with extremely personal service then call RDG Transport (http://www.rdgtransport.com/). Alisha at 913-728-7108 provides lightning fast and courteous response to all your questions with an interested and can-do attitude. I had several requirements and they are accommodating all of them. Best part, the lowest price available on top of everything else and I shopped it hard for 2 days, including all of the forum recommendations. Further, they were willing to pick within 24hrs and deliver within 2 days f rom halfway across the country - it was faster than I was even ready for!

I will report back after delivery to complete the loop but judging by my experience thus far I expect nothing but full execution from RDG.

Lol, that's just about my speed! Buying mods for a car I don't even own yet. Is that a sign of being a mod junkie?

Seriously, sure I'd be interested in seeing photos of them as well as your asking price. I have a bunch of expenses with the shipping and registration of the truck over the next couple weeks so I may have to limit myself a bit

Thanks

I highly recommend using Plycar Auto Transport. Here's a shot my Vette being delivered when I moved to SW Florida last July.

Mike from Criswell Chevrolet (Forum Vendor) uses Plycar exclusively. Search in the C7 General section and you will see excellent recommendations.

On an open carrier I agree with you, the top middle position would be the safest. With the enclosed carriers as pictured, there are no clearance issues, there are with the open carriers.
