Z's in storage 'till end of April so I finally decided to install the LMC5 sitting in my glove box today as a preventative measure and peace of mind. I was concerned whether I may require an alternative module instead of the regular LMC5 so I contacted Richard at Compliance who reassured me that over 16,000 LMC5's have been sold and that 1/2 of 1% have the lingering pull key message so the percentages were in my favor. He also mentioned that if my CL is functioning normally, which it is, that I would not need the Unlocker, merely turn key on, pull fuse #23, remove key, verify wheel is unlocked, disconnect neg. batt. terminal, re insert fuse #23 and continue with the install. The install was very simple, less than 30 minutes with the excellent, detailed with pic's instructions, everything functions properly as before except the CL doesn't lock anymore! Now I have the peace of mind of not getting stranded.
Just thought I could give kudos to Richard at Compliance, he has to be one of the most patient, thoughtful Vendors out there, he even called me from Calif.. to British Columbia to explain the LMC5 to me! not that I would understand the theory anyways LOL..., they must be electrical geniuses, why can't GM provide this simple fix.

Did the same to my 03 last week.Every thing went smooth as glass. Your right about Richard. Emailed him a few times.Super quick response. He even offered to take back Unlocker(i ordered ,but like you, i didn't need) but i figured it was my dumbass mistake ,so i kept it.

Interesting. I ordered the Unlocker just in case but never had to use it. I guess I could send it back but I just threw it in the trunk because I know at some point I'll run into another C5 owner whose column just locked and has no clue why.
Good to know your success in installing it. I've got one I ordered back around Christmas and will be installing it soon now the weather is warming up - plus not working 7 days a week ! The instructions are in great detail and doesn't look hard - just always that lingering thought in back of mind about messing up one of the pins or clips !

I was apprehensive about the same thing so I kept the LMC5 in my glove box for about a year, why touch it if it's working ok was my feeling, but the lingering thought of getting stranded out weighted
waiting any longer. The allen key included in the kit worked great, no screwing up of any pins or clips occurred thankfully!
Here's Richard's youtube presentation, makes the install a breeze.
R all lmc5 modules equal,or is there several manuf. Where should i get one, r the ebay lmc5 modes ok, i believe it is around 50 bucks. R there any ANY ANY drawbacks at all with this device, can it muck up any other system at all. I am like the bible character Nickademas, i am almost persuaded. Thanks for the info

Took cover off car today and found that my column does lock. Will be ordering tomorrow. Compliance parts.com has it for $40.
The video above will be very helpful. A member in our club had his column lock when on a trip and had to have the car flatbed towed!
