I have a 99 A4 and today a strange thing happened just after I had the car go thru the state inspection which it passed with no issues. after my next stop when I went to start the car... nothing... no starter, no dash lights, no nothing... was as though the battery was dead but when I walked up to the car the car I used the fob and it unlocked it and the backup lights etc lit as they normally do...but again when I went to start it nothing at all happened. I waited a bit tried again and it started normally although the clock was no longer set to the right time it was at 1:00. Also as I was driving it after it started the "pull key, wait ten seconds" message was on the DIC and would not go away by hitting the reset. After the next stop it appeared to be back to normal...what happened? Is this just a random thing or can I expect more such instances?
Not that I know of...although it has been mostly garage kept but for the last month or so it has been outside generally with a cover but we have had some hard rains the last day or so...I will check the carpet etc to see if it feels damp though
That car is on the same platform as the b5/b5.5 passat. Both cars have issues with the sunroof drains and wiper cowls leaking water onto the vehicle floor. The convenience control module is located on either driver or pass floor behind the kick panel depending on exact model configuration. When you have a water leak the module gets soaked with water and the car starts doing random things.

I think "1999 A4" means a 1999 C5 Corvette with an automatic transmission not an Audi - this is a Corvette forum.
Double check your battery - is it fully charged? Are the terminal connections good and tight? Battery problems, even minor ones, can make these cars go all flooey (that's a technical term).
