Hi there. I apologize if this has been beat to death but I can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for. I have an 04 Z and I'm planning headers w/ high flow cats, stock TI exhaust and a tune in the near future...I'm also planning a move to Texas from MN. Could a guy remove the air pump and all the crap attached and "pass" inspection in Texas? I don't know all the rules down there! Thanks for the info!!!!!

All of my stuff has been removed, with no issues, But it has been tuned to compensate for issues that could raise awareness

Youre in Texas.....of course you can. I have no cats, Texas Speed Longtubes, Texas Speed Cam, Texas Speed Tune, and still pass emissions. You didn't hear this from me but depending on what part of Texas you move to Im sure you can find a Mexican owned inspection shop to give you an inspection sticker. Trust me. Actually, it doesnt matter where in Texas you move to, we're all over the place. LOL

A bunch of guys in our group have no cat's....

Your only allowed to have ONE "not ready" code.
As long as you only have 1, or 0 "not ready" codes... you will be fine.

If you have 2 or more "not ready" codes , then take it to a tuner, and they can fix it.

technically, if in dallas, tarrant, collin, denton, bearx, etc. you are supposed to have everything, but as pointed out not a problem getting pass...biggest problem counties are around big cities...dallas/fort worth, houston, san antonio, austin are ones that come to mind,, good luck and welcome to Texas

I used to have this older fella up in grayson co that I would pull in, flip the turn signals, brights, wipers, honk the horn and within 5 min's have my new sticker... that lasted about 6 yrs.... Not so much anymore... BUT, there are guys in the DFW rea who can "tune" your car to pass.... you just have to know em...

Ask around when you get here to find out where to get it inspected. We don't have cats and run Hoosier DOT drag radials which is basically a slick. Found a guy local that turns the headlights on, checks blinkers, and beeps the horn. Took 5 minutes. Those guys are all over the place if you ask around.

You'll love it here! Friendly people and great weather. I've been in Tyler for about 5 years and enjoy it very much.

One of the best places that i have found is to find that shop that will pass you without questions or looking is car shows and car meets also car mechanics for performance shops. Waco still gets cold and will get snow, But Houston doesn't LOL.

NOTE: the Texas DPS or Highway patrol WILL stop you for no front plate if you have Texas plates. The locals, City, County and Constable will not.
