Default Texas Speed - HEADS UP

**************************************** *
**************************************** *
EDIT: TEXAS SPEED HAS BEEN REDEEMED, READ BELOW
**************************************** *
**************************************** *

So I have my motor torn apart waiting for my brand new and shiny Yella Terra rocker arms that I ordered from Texas Speed for $500.00. UPS delivered them this afternoon and I rush home from work to get these puppies installed and what do I find? A set of USED rocker arms with MISSING PARTS! WTF?!!?

The box is making all kinds of noise as I move it around (YellaTerra ships them shrink-wrapped). When I unpack it from the shipping box (it was packed well), I find the YellaTerra box is bulging and poorly taped shut. When I open the YellaTerra box I find greasy fingerprints everywhere and the rocker arms and bolts are loose and banging into each other. To top it off, the mounting pedestals and shims are missing!!!!!! Everything is clearly used!!!

For all I know these things were used to break in a race motor with a huge cam and ridiculous spring pressure! Thats why I generally don't buy USED engine parts and I most certainly don't pay top dollar for USED parts with MISSING items!!

I haven't contacted Texas Speed yet to give them an opportunity to redeem themselves (they are closed) but I think everyone would agree the ONLY acceptable solution is to overnight me a set of new rocker arms AND pay the return shipping.

I expect this kind of $h!t from flee bay not Texas Speed. Under NO circumstances is it acceptable to ship used garbage to a customer paying full price. Even if they do the right thing they still deserve a "ding" on their record for this incident.

I am still so HOT about this. Either they accept used parts (w/ missing parts) for returns or they were the ones that used the parts (they claim to test parts in house) and decided it was ok to pass the junk along to a customer...with missing parts!!! Do they run their custom grind cams on the dyno and then ship them out to customers?? Are we all getting used parts?

I certainly understand your frustration but maybe you should give them a chance to make it right before you drag this out in the open. We're all human. I just had an "issue" with another forum sponsor and they made good on their error so all is good. I hope all turns out as well for you.

I think him coming on here telling his story is the right thing to do no matter what the outcome is, I think it shows they either have a bad employee or they just don't give a $hit....

Like I said, the fact that someone in the company knowingly sent out used junk to a customer, regardless of the ultimate outcome, should result in a "ding" to their reputation. Whomever packed that junk into a box knows good and damn well it was used junk. I don't know the story (e.g. disgruntled worker) as its completely unacceptable and there is no plausible scenario where this was an innocent "accident".

I will most certainly post the resolution and if they do right by me they will redeem themselves but regardless they deserve a "ding" on their reputation. From this point they can choose to make it worse or better, but right now they are sitting at a "one star" rating in my eyes.

Thats exactly how I feel. Someone at that company knowingly packed up that engine scrap and carefully sent it to a customer. Just like you said, either they have a bad employee or they just don't give a $h1t.

Just to reiterate, I will post the outcome for forum members to see so that they can make their own decision on Texas Speed, but as far as I'm concerned, I didn't screw up, they did and it shouldn't cost me any more time or money to make this right. If they do right by me (overnight me new rockers along with a prepaid return shipping slip) they will have redeemed themselves, anything less and they don't. Its actually pretty simple. This is an opportunity for them to gain respect from forum members or lose it.

Having dealt with both Jason and Trevor over the last couple years, if what you say is true, they WILL make it right. Period.

You've already made several posts about this and they haven't even had the chance to find out about it yet since, as you stated, they're closed. Give them a chance. Chill a little.

Looks to me like a mistake was made, I can't imagine something like this happening intentionally, how that came about "who knows" but I'm sure they will get you squared away, I hate waiting on parts myself as well, but it's part of doing business nowadays.

Sounds like a disgruntled employee. At least I hope that is the case....

I have always had nothing but great experiences w Trevor,Jason,Matt... I must admit though I too would be PISSED if I paid premium price for something advertised as NEW and received THAT in the mail... Kind of a kick in the nuts! Give them a call, allow them to make it right. I am certain that they will. If it were MY company, someone would lose their job if intentional. I don't buy the whole "it was a mistake"....

**Texas Speed has been redeemed***

I sent an email out to Texas Speed last night describing the situation along with pictures of the junk I received.

At 9:01am this morning, Dominic from Texas Speed, called me to take ownership of the problem. By the time I received his call, I already had a UPS email authorizing the pickup. Additionally, he will be over-nighting new rockers to me.

Texas Speed deserves the "ding" on their reputation as Dominic agreed that they should have been more diligent in verifying what goes out.

With that being said, $h!t is going to happen, and its going to **** people off. However, its the customer service that ultimately sets companies apart. Texas Speed made it #1 priority to make sure I was taken care of, of for that they stand out. I'm still angry it happened, but I WILL be doing business with TSP in the future as I now know they truly value the customer.

In the end Texas Speed took ownership and didn't point fingers. Their website says that customer service is #1, and today they proved it.

Sorry for being such a PITA, but I'd still like to see a head bounced off a wall.
