I've been searching, found lots of info. Seems easy enough to do if you can get past number 7, I'm going to go ahead and replace my own. I see a spark plug wire puller is desired and MSD wires and NGK irridium plugs are popular. Anyone know of a good thread on choosing and replacing them?
New owner so still learning... I read a few posts where it was mentioned that some of the spark plugs are hard to remove. Just curious to what is the problem. Lack of space to remove them or ??? And do you have any tricks to make the removal easier. Thanks.
Had a similar experience last week. Right now, I don't have the required equipment to change the oil myself (jack, ramps, stands, etc.), so I have been taking it to the dealership as I live in a very small town. This last time, I told the service writer to be sure and have them check the coolant level as the low coolant warning came on once when I was on a severe grade. They soaked me for a half hour of troubleshooting time to check it out, $44.50, and said, "The sensor is probably going out. We can fix it for $208.63." Yeah, thanks, but no thanks!!
Now does anything I said - Please be sure to check the coolant level - sound like I said, "Yes, please spend an inordinate amount of expensive shop time checking out a non-existent problem on my car for me"?
Oh and they also wanted to do the following:
Injector flush..................$169.44
Trans flush.....................$195.92
Fuel filter replace.............$263.09
Serpentine belt replace.....$298.81
I don't remember putting a sign on my forehead that day that said "Duh, I'm too stupid to live!! Please bend me over and put it to me good!!!"
I ended up doing the belt and tensioner myself for about $100.00 in parts and still thought it was a bit steep.

Use a Swivel ratchet, remove drivers side check valve, move brake booster line over. Not a hard job at all.

OP, so sorry you got the screwed routine. You should go back and ask for fair treatment or that dealer will never see you car again! They should make it good or lose you forever!
MSG or GM Reds, plugs are a hot debate. Don't fret to much! Just drive!!!!!

I got yelled at by a vendor here a few years ago for expressing my displeasure of the MSD wires but since I saw them recommended I'll do what I did then and go over my experience with them.
GM Reds are cheaper but I had read about how awesome the MSD ones are so my first attempt was them. The metal clips were so far into the boots that I had to pull them out with a set of needle nose pliers to get them to hit the plugs. It was a very soft engagement and it took many P0300 tries to get them all on correctly.
I replaced them with a set of GM reds. With no pliers necessary each one snapped on clicking very loudly twice indicating that they were securely on both the plug and the coil. When I combine this with the bad reviews that the MSD coils get on top of my other bad experience with a MSD-6AL ignition box on my old turbo eclipse I'll stay away from MSD products from now on.
