vent cover problem

anyone buy a set of vent covers from corvette central??, fyi they cover the pass side hvac vents. I need them to work since the ac freezes my wife and she is NOT HAPPY. anyway, I can not figure out how to keep them in place, called corvette central and they said the central handle should attach to the control handle on the vent, but mine being a 97 it does not, so I am thinking velcro. anyone do this?

Once set they'll stay put but if you ever want to remove them they'll just prise out and the dabs of silicone will be easy to pick off as if they were never there.
